30 chuppahs this month...

30 Orphans Marrying in One Month

Don't Ignore Their Plea!

During the month of Tamuz 5766, in the brief period between Rosh Chodesh and the seventeenth of the month, thirty orphans will be getting married. An additional five orphans will be getting married shortly before Rosh Chodesh Tamuz!

Do we have even an inkling of what his means?

Thirty-five orphans! Thirty orphans in thirteen days, beginning Tuesday, Erev Rosh Chodesh Tamuz, until Thursday, 15 Tamuz. Another five will be getting married in the days preceding Rosh Chodesh.

Thirty is a huge number. It's a number that leaves you gasping for air. It's a number that's inconceivable, and if it reality didn't prove that this is precisely the situation, we wouldn't believe it. Thirty orphans in two weeks!

When thirty orphans marry in the space of two weeks, we dare not remain indifferent! Even if you are not a regular contributor, even if you usually make do with a sigh – this time, that's not enough. You can't just shake your head in commiseration and move on! A Yid's heart must be touched; his neshamah must cry out. When you hear about one orphan, your heart aches. Contributing to help one orphan is a huge merit. Now, we are not talking about one wedding. Kupat Ha'ir is dealing with thirty requests for assistance from orphans who are all marrying in one month. This is an earthshaking cry for help.

They are establishing Jewish homes. We couldn't tell the stories of all thirty orphans due to space constraints. We are merely crying their cry. The regular fundraiser is nowhere near enough. Kupat Ha'ir cannot cover this alone. We need three times the amount.

Finding it hard?

Are the stories too painful and distressing?

Consider the fact that each of these stories is but a glimpse into an entire life of suffering.

Consider the fact that living among us are young people who do not read about these difficult circumstances; they live them, every hour of every day.

Consider the fact that at the very moment that you walk into a wedding hall, a number of orphans are getting married as well.

Feel the hot tears and searing pain of thirty orphans who have to stretch their hands out and request assistance. With broken hearts, they plead: Don't just walk on; stop. We need you. We need your contribution. We're waiting for it.

Please, contribute now.

Hakodosh Baruch Hu is waiting.
Will you have the merit of establishing 30 chuppahs all at once?
Please, don't send them away unanswered. Don't say, "This has nothing to do with me," because if we don't feel obligated, no one will feel obligated. The orphans' fates are hanging in the air, and we will be the ones to determine their  fate. This is not just another fund, Yidden; for these 30 orphans, this is the first and last fund on earth.
Their hope lies in you.
