Maran HaGaon R' Shimon Galai shlit"a:
"WHOEVER GIVES 260 SHEKELS ($75) TO KUPAT HA'IR FOR 26 ORPHANS WHO STAND TO GET MARRIED IN THE MONTH OF TEVET AND WHO NEED SUBSTANTIAL ASSISTANCE-
WITH HASHEM'S HELP SHOULD MERIT–MEASURE FOR MEASURE- TO RAISE AND TO MARRY OFF ALL THEIR CHILDREN IN HEALTH AND HAPPINESS."
Harav Galai shlit"a will daven at the kever of Maran Rosh HaYeshiva HaRav Steineman ztvk"l on his sheloshim and will mention each participant's name individually-that this person should merit this rare bracha to raise and marry off all of his children in health and happiness.
And when the Beis Din shel Matta requests- along with the merit of Maran Rosh Kol Bnei HaGolah zy"a in the upper spheres- the Beis Din shel Ma'alah fulfills!
We are still in mourning. Our great light, the luminary Maran Rosh Kol Bnei HaGolah HaRav Steineman zy"a has been taken, and we wonder how the sun still shines. Mothers look at their babies and say, "You, sweetie, will grow up in a world without this light, whom we followed for so many years. When you get older you will ask in amazement, 'You really, really saw him? '"
We did. The world will never be the same, but we still benefit from his greatness, and Above he is still an advocate for our generation.
These 26 orphans, who are getting married in Tevet- each one of whom has only Kupat Ha'ir to turn to for financial support-are enabling us to benefit from the passionate tefillah of Maran HaGaon HaTzaddik HaRav Shimon Galai shlit"a on the sheloshim of Maran Rosh Kol Bnei HaGolah HaRav Steineman zy"a at his kever. This unique tefillah , in which the Rav davens that each of us -mentioning our names individually-will merit to bring each and every one of our children to the chuppah , is measure for measure:
"If you gladden mine, I will gladden yours," is the fundamental quote from Hashem Himself which underlies this holy tefillah.
These 26 orphans-and those whose situations are even more severe than orphanhood-do not have parents who will accompany them to the chuppah, who will care for their needs, who will enwrap them with love on their special day.
And what about our children? Do we have any guarantee that we will lead them to the chuppah?
But this month, there will be tefillot on our behalf: Maran HaRav Galai, at the kever of Maran Rosh Kol Bnei HaGolah HaRav Steineman zy"a, with hot tears will plead fervently of Maran Rosh Kol Bnei HaGolah's neshamah to ascend to the Kisay HaKavod and to intercede there, for us…This ardent tefillah will be as close as possible to the petirah, while his holy neshamah is still here, before thirty days have passed. No place is more appropriate for this critical tefillah than the kever of a Gadol HaDor who was taken from us so recently…
We can't give them back their parents. We can’t take away their pain. But we can insure that they will have what they need for a new beginning. And in the merit of the tzedaka and this tefillah, halevai that we should all be able to lead our own children to the chuppah, in simcha.
